Looking at the overall picture, the gap among all groups remained relatively stable during the period from 2013 to 2023.
In 2013, holiday constituted the highest proportion at 2.8 millions, which was far more than that of visiting friends/relatives at 1.6 millions, however, business represented the lowest proportion at 0.8 millions, which was slightly less than education/other at 0.9 millions.
Holiday climbed from 2.8 millions in 2013 to 4.1 millions in 2018, becoming the highest proportion in 2018. Additionally, business and education/other climbed from 0.8 to 1.0 and 0.9 to 1.0 between 2013 and 2018, respectively, remaining the lowest proportion in 2018. Futhermore, visiting friends/relatives soared from 1.6 millions in 2013 to 2.6 millions in 2018.
Holiday and visiting friends/relatives declined from 4.1 millions to 2.5 millions and 2.6 millions to 2.3 millions between 2018 and 2013, respectively, becoming the highest proportion in 2023. Additionally, business decreased from 1.0 millions in 2018 to 0.6 millions in 2023, becoming the lowest proportion in 2023. Moreover, education/other edged down from 1.0 millions in 2018 to 0.9 millions in 2023.
