The number of tourists in Asia and the Pacific, this category stood at 60.2 in 1990, before climbing steadily to 135.8 million in 2005. European and Middle Western visitors began with roughly 280.2 and 9.8 million in 1990, this was followed by a significant growth to 400.2 and 15.8 million by 2005.
Conversely, the number of American travellers declined dramatically from 680.5 million to 113.2 million in 2005.
The total number of tourists experienced upward trends each year from 448.9 to 693.7 in 2005. The final year recorded the highest number of visitors.
