The table provides analysis of the changes in the number of tourists in 8 different countries over a two year period. Overall, it is evident that majority of the countries had an increase in the number of tourists, apart from France and Hong Kong.
Starting from 2009, France was the destination of choice, with 76 million visitors, the most among the countries. Other European destinations including: Spain, UK, Italy, and Germany ranged between 10 to 55 million tourists in 2009. USA was a popular destination with 66 million, while both Asian countries surveyed had low numbers with Hong Kong having the joint lowest number at 10 million, tied with Germany.
In the following year, France had an equal number of persons visiting as the previous year, remaining the most-preferred destination, while the other European nations saw an increase in visitation, with Germany in particular recording a 109% increase over the past year. USA notably was fairly stable, with 67 million tourists recorded in 2010. On the other hand, while China saw a 55% rise in tourist intake, Hong kong was the only nation to have a drop off in the number of people visiting, with only 9 million in 2010.
