The table illustrates an IELTS candidate’s results over seven mock tests and one final official test.
Overall, the candidate shows a steady progression with few fluctuations between April 13th and November 20th. Starting with their lowest score on the first mock, they ended with their highest score on the official test which was also achieved in some of their mock examinations. Through the tests, there is a clear distinction between their strong sections (Listening and Reading) compared to their weaker sections (Writing and Speaking).
Initially, the student achieved a total of 6.5 on the first mock test in April; however, this quickly improved to a 7.0 and even higher in the following months. While there was a slight drop in score on their last mock in September, going from an 8.0 down to a 7.5, the candidate was able to recover and increase the score back to an 8.0 for the official test.
Looking specifically at each section on the tests, a weak point for the student seems to be writing and speaking, both achieving the lowest scores within all categories. However, with continuous practice, the candidate was able to increase these two scores from a starting 5.0 (writing) and 6.0 (speaking) to a 7.0 in both, allowing them to reach an overall band score of 8.0 on the official IELTS.
