The table illustrates the amount of water consumed in three different sectors – domestic, agricultural, and industrial – in six different nations.
Overall, agriculture is the primary consumer of water in all six nations, significantly outstripping domestic and industrial needs. Notably, Russia and Turkey have the highest reliance on water for agriculture.
In detail, when it comes to agricultural needs, Russia leads the group with a massive 1,863 m³, followed closely by Turkey at 1,482 m³. In contrast, Australia and China use relatively less water for agricultural needs, with figures of 741 m³ and 806 m³, respectively.
In terms of industrial and domestic use, the figures are quite different. Canada has the highest industrial water consumption at 832 m³, which is nearly double that of the UK (398 m³). Russia and China, on the other hand, use the least for industry, at just 56 m³ and 71 m³. Australia has the highest domestic consumption, with 341 m³, whereas China and the UK have the smallest amounts for domestic needs, at 26 m³ and 38 m³ respectively.
