The table illustrates the international tourist arrivals in millions in nine selected countries, namely: France,US,Spain,UK,Italy,Turkey,China,Germany, and Hong Kong in 2009, along with the changes ( in percentage) in 2010.
Overall, there were upward trends in the number of international tourists arrving to US,SPAIN,UK,ITALY,TURKEY,CHINA,and GERMANY, while the figure for Hong Kong showed an downward trend.Noticeably, the number of international tourists travelling to Germany exceeded those of the other countries.
From 2009 to 2010, the international tourist arrivals in Germany increased by around 12 millions, representing a growth of approximately 109%.Additionally, the proportion of international tourist arrivals in China rose significantly by 55% at the end of the period.Likewise, the figure for Turkey climbed slightly by approximately 33% between 2009 and 2010.
In contrast, the number of tourists travelling to France experienced a stabilty at around 76 millions in 2 years.Additionally, the figure for Hong Kong declined marginaly by around 1 millions, representing a reduction of approximately 11% between 2009 and 2010.However, the international tourist arrivals in the remaining four countries: the UK, the US, Spain,Italy experienced a slight increase from 2009 to 2010.Specifically, the figure for the UK rose from 55 to 57 million, Italy from 44 to 45 million, Spain from 55 to 56 million, and the US from 66 to 67 million.
