The table shows the percentage of household income spent on various categories in France, Germany, the UK, Turkey, and Spain each month. Overall, it is evident that all countries allocated a significant portion of their income to ‘Food and Drink’ and ‘Housing’, while ‘Clothing’ was least popular in all countries except Turkey.
Starting with France, Germany, and the UK, these countries allocated just over half of their income to ‘Food and Drink’ and ‘Housing’ (55-64%). Notably, France and the UK spent a lower percentage (7% and 11% respectively) on clothing compared to Germany (15%). Moreover, Germany had higher entertainment expenses (19%) compared to both France and the UK (13% and 11% respectively).
On the other hand, Turkey and Spain devoted the highest proportions of their income to ‘Food and Drink’, with figures of 36% and 31% respectively. In contrast, Turkish expenditure on entertainment accounted for only a tenth of their budget. Spain allocated 15% to entertainment and ‘Clothing’ was the least popular category, with 8% of the budget allocated to it.
