Overall, the USA donated the largest amount of money throughout the all period, while the EU and other countries gave significantly less. Despite some small fluctuations, all regions showed a general increase in their contributions at the final period.
To begin with,in 2006 the USA provided $9.8 million, and this figure rose steadily to reach $20.3 million by 2010. The biggest rise was seen between 2007 and 2008, when the donations jumped from $11 million to $17 million. Although there was a slight decrease in 2009, the upward trend continued in the final year.
The EU started at $3.1 million in 2006 and reached $4.1 million in 2010, showing a gradual increase over the period. The aid from other countries followed a similar pattern, rising from $2.8 million to $3.7 million over the same time.In terms of total contributions from all sources, the amount increased significantly from $15.7 million in 2006 to $28.1 million in 2010. The largest yearly rise occurred in 2008, mainly due to the sharp increase in donations from the USA.
