Overall, city center and near city center experienced upward trends in the number of movies over a five-year period, while opposite true for occurred in other regions. It is also worth mentioning that city center had more films than other regions during the given period.
Focus on the upward trends first, city center was a leading region in the number of cinemas, at 1,152, followed by near city center, at 300 in 2004. The figure for the former witnessed a noticeable increase to 1,620, representing a 7.14% rise in 2009. The figure for the latter increased noticeably by 100, a 33.33% rise in the same year.
Turning to the downward trends, the initial number of films in suburb and countryside was 40 and 108, respectively. Then suburb saw a slight decline by 10 in this category, a 25% drop by 2009. Similarly, countryside also dropped to 90, a 16.67% fall in this year.
Regarding the total figure, this figure rose slightly from 2,100 in 2004 to 2,287 in 2009, marking a modest overall growth of 8.9%.
