The table illustrates women’s role in government and management in 2000 in 5 countries. Overall, while Norway had the highest proportions of the women in parliament leaders among others, more than half of all the managers were female in Italy, followed with Norway.
In terms of women’s postion in government, Norway dominated with 36 percent female workers in the parliament, whereas Urugway and Italy lagged behind with 8 and 10 percent, respectively. Others, Canada, Tobago and Trinidad had an average rate of female involovement in the parliament.
However, in management figures were higher when compared to the parliament. Italy led the chart, showing the highest proportions of female staff in the management, with 52 percent. Norway also came close to this figure with a difference of 2 percent (52%). Canada and Uruguay both had the same level of female involvement in management, where 37 percent of all managers were women. Tobago and Trinidad had 40 percent of that regarding women’s role in management.
