The table illustrates the female status in administration and management across five different countries in the year 2000.
Overall, the proportion of women in management was generally higher than the proportion of women holding seats in parliament in all countries shown. Norway and Italy were the clear frontrunners in that the most women worked in areas of management, while Uruguay had the lowest representation of women in both categories.
Norway presented the highest figure for females in parliament, at 36%, followed by Canada with 28%. Tobago and Trinidad and Italy had more modest proportions, at 19% and 10%, respectively, while Uruguay was the outlier with the lowest level of representation, at only 8%.
A similar pattern can be seen in managerial positions, although the shares were consistently higher. Italy had the highest percentage of women managers, at 54%, closely followed by Norway with 52%. Tobago and Trinidad reported 40%. While both Canada and Uruguay had equal percentages at 37%.
