The table depicts the global laptop market share by manufacturers in two periods, 2006 and 2007. In general, HP held a significant proportion of the market in both years, and Dell showed stronger competition in 2007.
Broadly speaking, HP accounted for almost one third of the notebook industry, a figure that exceeded Dell’s by a margin of 14.8% in 2006. After one year HP maintained its dominant position as its share climbed to 34%. Dell occupied the third spot with 16.6% in 2006 and in 2007, it became runner-up(20.2%). Conversely, Lenovo experienced a marginal decline, with its figure dropping slightly from 6.6% to 6.2% in 2007, also market share for Acer dipped slightly reaching 10.7% from 11.6% in 2007.
Additionally, Toshiba edged up by 1.1% in 2007 when started with 6.2%. In contrast, Fujitsu-Siemens plunged by half of its initial value, from 4.8% to 2.3%, which sunk to a low of table. As for the remaining manufactureres, categorized as ‘Others’, it fell to just under 20% from 22.8%, as well this companies took second place in table of market share, but dramatically moved to third rank.
