The tables provide data about two types of smartphones in six different countries for the years 2012 and 2022.
In 2012, Japan and Thailand were the largest sellers of iPhones, and they remained among the sales leaders even a decade later. The Galaxy smartphone was predominantly sold in Japan and Thailand during the first year. By 2022, Japan and Canada had emerged as the biggest sellers of smartphones.
Japan generated approximately $9 million in iPhone sales in 2012. After ten years, this figure had more than doubled to just under $22 million. Thailand’s earnings from smartphone sales were over $7 million in 2012, which grew to more than threefold in 2022, reaching $29.5 million. Canada, which initially earned less than $7 million, experienced a significant surge in 2022 with sales totaling $42 million, marking it as the highest profit from iPhones.
The Galaxy smartphone was the bestseller in both Japan and Thailand, with sales generating $11 million in Japan and $9 million in Thailand. However, by 2022, Canada surpassed Thailand with approximately $30 million in Galaxy sales. Canada has become a major market for the Galaxy, starting with sales of $4.3 million in 2012, which are projected to reach $30 million by 2022.
