Overall, the Australian trade with China increased significantly, whereas the trend of Australian trade with USA remained stable during the mentioned five years. For Japan, the exports fluctuated notably while imports remained constant.
Australia started importing from China at little less than A$20 billion which increased significantly to $30 billion in 2008 before being constant for last year, whereas exports to China started at little more than A$10 billion but increased tremendously until bypassed imports after 2008 and reached around A$35 billion at the end.
Regarding the trade with Japan, Australia started imports and exports almost at the same level of around A$20 billion but imports remained constant with minor fluctutation whereas exports increased notably in the first year and then remained at the same level for next couple of years, before showing a sharp incline in 2007 and touched the peak of around A$42 billion in 2008. Finally it dropped in the last year and reached around A$30 billion in the last year.
In contrast to China and Japan, trade of Australia with USA stayed relatively stable where imports started with little more than A$20 billion and exports started with little less than A$10 billion. With slight fluctuations, both imports and exports ended almost at the same levels.
