The presented charts delineate the evolution of the annual budget of a public library across the span of 10 years, between 1995 and 2005. Overall, the pie charts clearly shows the surge of technology investment thanks to modern era and the free fall of renovation and upgrades expenditure.
On one hand, predominant sectors of the pie charts show a stable trend, for example staff salaries in 2005 remain around average of the other years and new book acquisitions also recognize a steady pattern. On the other hand, other trends such as miscellaneous clearly describe a downtrend from 7% to 3% for the last period. Moreover, renovation and upgrades peaked in 2000 at 43% but fell to only 17% in 2005.
Although, compared to the other sectors only technology investments saw an uptrend from 13% to 27%. In 2005, more than half of the total budget was for the staff salaries and technology investments despite 1995 where renovation and upgrades and new book acquisitions took more than 53%.
