The pie chart presents information on the parts of the social fields—higher education, K-12 education, transportation, physical health, environmental services, and other—that were invested in by regional authorities in Someland in the decades starting from 1980.
Looking from an overall perspective, the proportion of expenses was divided among three sectors: education, transport infrastructure, and services. In all three years, the highest level of spending was on development to teach and learn at universities. Besides, the amount in the “other” part was not strongly spent.
During 1980 to 1990, teaching and studying were increasingly expensed by 10%, approximately half of the total. But, highly needed by Someland’s citizens, the means of transport was decreased from 16% to 6%.
In other years, the total investment in the “other” sector was a negligible proportion. On the other hand, local authorities cared about their citizens’ living conditions, which comprised 9% of the total. Obviously, the transportation system deeply contributed 12% of the total cost in 2000.
