The supplied pie charts depict information about the main resources of energy in the USA in 1980 and 1990.
Overall, oil was the dominant energy source in both charts, while the consumption of nuclear power represented the smallest proportion.
Among five categories, in 1980, usage of oil was the largest percentage of energy sources, at 42% but this figure declined significantly to 33% in 1990. By contrast, the consumption of nuclear power and coal rose by the same margin of 5%, rising from 5% to 10% and from 22% to 27% respectively. These categories experienced the most notable growth over the period. Together, oil and coal made up nearly two-thirds of total energy consumption in both years.
A different pattern can be observed in the other two categories. Natural gas remained relatively unchanged, falling slightly from 26% to 25%. Similarly, Hydroelectric Power showed no variation, maintaining a stable share of 5% in both years.
