In the past, Westley had green fields in the South West of the town, and a train station has been built there. The Town Toll bridge has been demolished, and a railway line is introduced which connects the South to the North of town. There used to be more houses that are now replaced by two new residential areas.
Lord Westley’s house is knocked down to build two new hotels and Lenton woods have been cut down to build a new housing Estate. The road system has been extended throughout the town. The coach Inn is now converted to a sports centre, and a new museum is constructed to the South-East of the sports centre. West gate shopping centre has replaced the church and a new cinema is established in the town.
