The maps present the alterations that have happened in Westley since 1815.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is seen that the town has been significantly modernised by building more public facilities and demolishing fields and the forest. Besides that, a new transport mode has been added, that is a railway. Moreover, in the second map, we can notice that the housing area has been extended.
Firstly, the outdated town had a plenty of fields that were replaced by the main railway station and the cinema. Many houses, that were located in one territory, are now divided into three residential districts. Because of that, Lenton Woods have been removed from the town. The church that existed in 1815 has been demolished and turned into the West Gate shopping centre. In addition, the new town has obtained a sport centre that was the couch inn before and the museum close to it. Lord Westley’s House has been decided into two and rebuilt into the red Lion and Lenton Hotel.
As for transportation, Twine Toll Bridge that connected Westley with London has now been substituted by a railway.
The only facilities that have remained the same are the market square and town hall.
