A comparison of the two maps reveals the extensive transformations happening to Dalton town in two hundred years’ time starting in 1815.
As can be seen from the illustration, this town has transformed beyond all recognition to become more residential and industrialized. A branch from the major river separated the area into a Western and Eastern side throughout the years.
Regarding the West side of this place, the forest was cleared to make room for several private houses, which would be located next to the newly-added hospital in the following two centuries. Instead of leaving trees to grow near the Dal river in 1815, up to three factories were built in that region. A cross bridge was also constructed in 2015, marking its replacement for the initial ford from 1815.
Significant changes also took place on the eastern side of this site. The number of residential houses increased, causing the minor forest to the East chopped down. A hotel was added to the further East, and a newly built school was established in the centre, surrounded by these new houses. Interestingly, the Hall farm from 1815 which kept the town’s cattle was reconstructed into an airport, making the region more suitable to promote tourism.
