The maps show how the town of Dalton changed between 1815 and 2015.
Overall, Dalton, a town mainly focused on agriculture and livestock farming in 1815, had become more urbanized and industry-oriented by 2015. It was changed beyond recognition due to the introduction of facilities and changes in road infrastructure.
In 1815, the site was not pedestrian friendly in that it lacked necessary road infrastructure. While a ford provided a crossing over the river at the outset, there had been substantial changes in road infrastructure by 2015, ensuring seamless connectivity. One notable change is the construction of a bridge that connected the western side with the central part of the town.
What made it even more appealing is an increase in housing, improving town’s residential capacity to a considerable extent. The introduction of facilities, such as a hotel, airport, hospital and school started to serve residents, which made the site even more accessible. Meanwhile, Dalton Forest was replaced by an industrial zone located on the southwestern part, serving as an economic stimulus.
