The two maps depict the transformation a particular supermarket has undergone since 5 years ago. Overall, the supermarket has become customer-friendlier with the introduction of new stalls, installation of self-service checkouts as well as several special offers. Notably, there is now less space in the store than there was half a decade ago.
As for the layout of the supermarket 5 years ago, it offered fewer products to shoppers. The shop had separate entrance and exit doors with a portal and checkouts between them. The left side was occupied by trolleys at the bottom and frozen foods at the top. In the centre, 3 different stalls dedicated for dairy products, drinkables, fruits and vegetables could be found. Additionally, the right side was divided into four sections, each served a certain commodity such as milk, fish and chicken.
By contrast, today the supermarket is more diverse and comfortable. In ideally, another exit is embedded next to the entrance and the porches have been removed. Customers can now either use self-service checkout or traditional one which are both adjacent to each other. The number of trolleys and the fridge for frozen foods have been doubled, taking up the left and right areas respectively. The four sections which used to be on the east side are not due to now selling different meat types in separated sections. A final alteration is that beverages are currently sold in packages and two new facilities – weekly specials and international food – have been introduced to the centre, among the existing shelves.
