The maps display that Tilden Airport and the area around it in 1985 and 2005.
Overall, a number of significant renovation have been made to the airport including a new runaway, light railway, housing estate, business park, and so on.
Looking at the maps in more detail, an area that was formerly used for airport support services was demolished in favor of the introduction of bus and light rail station. To connect the new station, a cutting-edge light rail parallel to the main path of the airport was constructed. The car park connected with domestic terminal was slightly expanded to the southern side. The two factories in the southeast corner of the airport were replaced by a large building for airport support services as well as a hotel and conference centre.
Moreover, the land that was Johnson’s park in 1985 later stands as a business park and housing estate which has been built in the north-west corner. An additional runaway (runaway two) has been built in 2005 and the first runaway remained unchanged in both year. The international terminal has become three times bigger during the time in an L-shape.
