The two pie chart shows the proportion of male and female workers in different types of job in Great Britain in 1992. It is clear that male and female had different patterns of employment.
First of all, we can see that most male worked in managerial and professional area, with 36%. While for the female, the biggest group is clerical or related job, taking up 31%. This is big different between two genders. The number of women in managerial positions is only 29%, which is smaller than men.
In terms of manual job, men is much more than female. For example, 24% of men do craft or similar jobs, compare to only 3% of female. Also, 26% of men do general labourers, but just 1% of women. This show that men is more likely to do manual job than female.
On the other hand, female are more interest in non-manual job. 9% of female work in other non-manual positions, which is higher than male (6%). It also same for clerical job. Also, male have bigger percentage in other manual than women.
In conclusion, men prefer to do manual job such as craft and general labourers, while female is more like to work in non-manual area, especially clerical and related work.
