The pie charts illustrate the proportion of marital status among Canadian and Australian people.
Overall, “separated but not divorced” status is mostly common in Canada’s population, whilst in Australia it is “married” category. Additionally, “divorced” status has the least percentage in both countries. Markedly, Australians do not have any same sex marriage.
In Canada, more than a half of population (53%) live separately but are not divorced, whilst married couples take 2nd place with 29%. By contrast, married Australian couples represent nearly half of the population (46%), followed by a “separated but not divorced” status, which comprised 41% of citizens.
In both Canada and Australia, other three categories (never married, divorced and widowed) combined constituted 15% and 13%, respectively. Moreover, Australia does not welcome same sex marriage, unlike Canada, where there is a tiny fraction (3%) of such marriages.
