The charts compare changes in the shares of eight different industry sectors which comprised the yearly contribution to the economy of Turkey between 2000 to 2010.
Overall, at the start of the period construction contributed the slightest to the economy of Turkey and agriculture was the greatest sector. However, at the end of the period healthcare and education became the largest economic sector and finance, business and other services was the lowest.
At the start of the period, construction sector was a very small number, and increased more than triple by 2016. Trade, utilities and transportation was 14 % in 2000 and increased small rise of 2 % in 2016.
The proportion of manufacturing and finance, business and other services experienced slight growth of 4 % and 3% in 2016, respectively. Agriculture, which was the most significant economic sector of Turkey’s economy in 2000, dropped to 14 % in 2016. Economic income from government and leisure and hospitality sectors were 12 % and 17 %, respectively, and both decreased by 3 % at the end of the period. In comparison, contribution from healthcare and education sector unchanged in both years.
