the two maps illustrate the layout of a city library in 2004 and the significant renovations complete by 2014.
overall, the library became more modern over the ten year period. several new facilities had added, some exsisting areas were moved or combined. the entrance, reception desk and most of the sections of general collection were remained unchanged.
in 2004, the library had separate areas for fiction, non fiction, children’s book and magazines in the northern side. the southern side contained gift store, art gallery, and academic journals, whereas the reference room remained in the center.
in 2014, several changes had been made. the gift store and art gallery were combined into one room and moved in the south east quardrant. th former gift store became a computer and media room . the academic journals were merged with the reference room in the centre. a new cafe and a outdoor performance area were built on the east side. the general collection was also extended with new movies and computer games,while the sectons of fiction, non ficton , childrens’s books and magazines remained same. in addition, the main entrance and the reception desk stayed intact in their orginal position.
