The maps illustrate the development and construction modifications that took place at the City Library over a decade, from 2004 to 2014.
Overall, the library underwent a significant transformation, evolving from a basic and functional layout to a more visually appealing structure. The enhancements included reorganizing the General Collection by adding new rooms for Movies and Computer Games, reducing the sizes of the Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Children’s areas, and creating a small corner for magazines.
With respect to the infrastructure, the most notable changes occurred in the northern area that housed the General Collection. In 2004, there were four rooms that occupied a significant amount of space. The Fiction and Magazine rooms occupied equal areas, while the Non-Fiction and Children’s rooms were similar in size. By 2014, all collections had been consolidated, and a new area for Computer Games was built, which was divided into two sections: one with open access to the Magazine area and the other for Movies and Computer Games.
In terms of residential and leisure developments, the southern area of the library was completely overhauled. The Academic Journals section was demolished to make room for the Art Gallery and Gift Store, along with a small café that opened into an Outdoor Performance area. While the Art Gallery was relocated to a different position, new public facilities were constructed for a Computer and Media room situated to the right of the main entrance.
