The two given charts illustrate the proportions of internet users worldwide between 1995 and 2002 and the internet users in 2003. Overall, we notice that in chart 1, while the proportion rose slightly at the beginning of the period, North America predominated the majority of internet usage.
In chart 1, the proportion rose slightly from 26 million users in 1995 to 195 million in 2000. Then the figures had a sharp increase to 415 million users in 2000. Later, there was a moderate number of users, which jumped to 552 million users in 2001, and then it stood at 580 million users in 2002.
On the other hand, chart 2 represents the percentage of internet users in 2003 by the countries and regions. The USA and Canada predominated the largest proportion of internet usage, at 53%, while Europe accounted for 24% of the internet users. While Asia and the Pacific were represented by 15% of internet users, only 6% of internet users were accounted for by South Americans. Both the Middle East and Africa stood at just 1%.
