Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing in regards to City of Barrie’s plan to close Nelson playground located at Nelson street from January 2025. This is a request to please reconsider your decision.
Pupils are not attracted to the playground as there are not enough playground equipment. One of the swing is broken and the slide has lots of cracks in it which is why parents are afraid to send their kids to play.
I would like to emphasize the importance of the playground in a child’s life. This is the place where kids play and connect to each other afterschool, on weekends and specially in summers. Playing with other children helps a child develop mentally as well as physically. It works as a stress-buster for them and this the place where they make a lot of life-long friends.
I would rater recommend to have few more equipment added such as Monkey-bars, Merry-go-round, Seesaws and to make the park more attractive by planting a few fruit trees and flowering plants, such as sunflowers, roses, tulips and jasmine. If possible I would suggest to have a fountain installed to attract more and more kids from the locality.
I hope to the authority will consider my suggestions.
Yours faithfully,
Saniya Vahora.
