Band 5+: Write a letter to the manager of a cinema (movie theatre) about a jacket you have left behind after a film. In your letter: Describe the jacket Describe where you were seated Explain what you want to be done

The letter addresses all three requirements of the task: the jacket is described (brown, silver buttons, Levi's), the seating position is mentioned (16D), and the desired action is clear (check with staff and contact the writer). However, the response could be improved by expanding on the details to ensure a more fully developed response. For example, providing more context about the specific cinema location or the exact time of the screening would add depth. Additionally, while the task response is sufficient, the flow of information is somewhat disjointed due to grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. To improve, focus on using more cohesive devices to link your ideas and ensure that the description of the jacket and the seating arrangement feels integrated into a natural narrative rather than a list of facts.

The letter follows a logical sequence, addressing all parts of the prompt. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed due to repetitive sentence structures and abrupt transitions. To improve, try using more cohesive devices (e.g., 'After the film ended,' or 'Upon arriving home, I realized...') to link your sentences more smoothly. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear central purpose.

The vocabulary used is basic and functional, which allows the reader to understand the message, but it lacks the range and sophistication required for higher scores. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'theartre', 'sliver', 'bing') and word choice issues (e.g., 'inform about' instead of 'inform you about'). Aim to use more precise descriptive adjectives and varied vocabulary to describe the situation and the item lost. Boost vocabulary complexity to elevate the overall score.

Grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are issues with verb tenses (e.g., 'I already phone', 'did not found', 'might left'), preposition usage, and sentence construction (e.g., 'This is my phone number is...'). To improve, focus on mastering past tense forms and subject-verb agreement. Practicing complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses, will also help increase your grammatical range.
