The bar chart delineates the percentage of male and female internet users in Canada in the year 2000.
It is evident that men used the largest proportion of the internet, whereas women had the lowest share. By contrast, in certain sectors, female users were considerably higher than male users.
Looking at the bar chart in more detail, 71% of female users used the internet for transferring email, which was the highest percentage in comparison of other categories. Similarly, women used the internet for online shopping, at 38%. On the contrary, research and education had the lowest share among female users, representing at only 9%.
On the other hand, most of the sectors were dominated by men. The greatest proportion of the internet was used for activities relevant to goods and services, accounting for 71%, followed by email, at 70%. In addition, men utilized the internet for games and chat rooms, stood at 64% and 50% respectively. However, merely 13% of male users used the internet for research and education, which was the smallest portion among men.
