The table compares six languages in terms of the number of native speakers, additional speakers, and the total number of people who speak each language.

Overall, Chinese has by far the largest number of native speakers, whereas English has the greatest total number of additional speakers. Meanwhile, Arabic is the least spoken language among the six, both by native and total speakers.

Looking first at native speakers, Chinese leads with 850 million, which is more than double that of English (370 million) and Spanish (360 million). Italian follows closely with 350 million native speakers, while Hindi and Arabic have significantly smaller native-speaking populations, at 216 million and 204 million respectively.

In contrast, English dominates in terms of speakers who use it as an additional language, with 620 million people – more than twice as many as Chinese (260 million). Spanish and Italian have 120 million and 60 million additional speakers, while Hindi and Arabic are far lower at 25 million and 10 million.
