The graph illustrates consumption of three different spreads between the per time period of 1981 and 2007. Over this 26 years we can see that consumption of spreads decreased, eventhough low fat and reduced spreads got popular when it was released.
The biggest consumption in 1981 was butter spreads (about 140 grams), while lowfat and reduced spreads did not even exist. The trend of butter spreads show sharp falls from 1986, after reaching peak consumption of all time (about 180 grams). Margarine consumption also experienced decreases in consumption before and after remaining the same from 1991 to 1996.
There was another case with low fat and reduced spread’s trend got steady increase when it was just released from1996 to2001. However, it also got incresed after 2001.
