The graph illustrates the sales of bathing suits in Newyork, and how this changed with temperature rise over the first half of 2012.Overall, there was no specific link between the weather and the rate of swimming clothes purchasing, with the latter being higher in the first months.
At the beginning of the year when the temperature stood at an average of 30 F, the bathing suit market was making 10 million dollars. This has experienced a steady growth until March with sales of 15 million as the weather started to get warmer. Interestingly, the numbers had jumped in April, nearly doubling the rate of purchase.
Although the temperature kept getting more and more higher as the year progressed, the demand for bathing suits experienced a massive decline at only around 7 million in May. In June, when the temperature was the highest reaching over 65 F, the swimming suit market was disproportionally reaching its lowest value of less than 2 millions.
