The table provides data on underground railway systems in six various cities that were set up between 1863 and 2001.

Overall, Londen-the city with the oldest metro system has the highest rate in kilometres of route throughtout the whole time span, while the Tokyo metro assist the most passengers to get to their destinations annually among other metro systems.

Firstly, Paris metro system routes 199 kilometres every year as it carries 1191 million people through the city. Even though The Tokyo metro system was built in 1927, it goes 155 kilometres while hosting 1927 million public transport users as it is one of the crowded cities in the world. The similar situation is seen in Washington DC. Although, it only goes 126 kilometres per year, it carries 144 million people every year.

On the other hand, it is obvious that using metro is not as common as other city in Kyoto and Los Angeles as the indicators show that trains in these cities’ subways route merely 11 and 28 kilometres respectively, while carrying 45 and 50 million passangers.
