The chart provides data about population of New Zeland across different groups of age commencing from 2011 to 2012.
Overall, the total population increased slightly by 0.6 per cent in 2012, while the most significant rise was observed in the 65 and older age category.
Two younger groups, particularly from under 15 and up to 39 experienced a slight drop.For example, the number of people under 15 decreased by 0.2 per cent from 898,160 to 896,364. Similarly, the 15 to 39 age group experienced a small drop by 0.2 per cent as well, with difference approximately 3000 people.
By contrast, the number of those over 40 saw an insignificant growth. The aged from 40 to 64 showed moderate climb, increasing by 0.6 per cent from 1,331,907 to 1,339,898. that also showed that the middle-aged group remained stable helping the population grow. Similarly, individuals aged 65 and older increased by 4.0 percentage by 2012, from 573,946 to 596,903, that also supported population growth of New Zeland.
