As seen from the maps, the town went through great changes toward modernization and urbanization. The most noticeable alteration is on the west side of the map. The fields on the southwest were demolished along with the road to London and the Twine Toll bridge. In their place, a railway and its station were built, and the main road was extended toward the southeast side of the town. There is no longer much green in the area due to the cutting down of the Lenton Woods, a housing estate not stand in its place. To the south of it, the houses were reorganized into a business and housing area. Most of the buildings were replaced with other facilities; however, the town hall remains the same.
To sum up, the town of Westley went through several major changes to improve its transportation and strive for modernity. As a result, its green scenery had to suffer.
