Band 9: You are a student and have decided to change your major. Write a letter to your academic advisor explaining your decision. You should include details about: - why you want to change your major - any challenges you faced in your current major - how you plan to approach this transition.

Note: Both the topic and the answer were created by one of our users.

Dear Academic Advisor,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally inform you about my decision to change my major from Engineering to Psychology. After careful consideration, I believe that this change aligns better with my interests and future career goals.

Over the past year, I have encountered several challenges in my current major. While I appreciate the analytical thinking that engineering requires, I have struggled to stay motivated in most of my core courses. I realized that my true passion lies in understanding human behavior, which is why I became increasingly interested in Psychology.

In order to ensure a smooth transition, I have already started reviewing the curriculum for the Psychology program and spoken with some of the students currently in that department. I am also planning to meet with the department head next week to discuss the requirements and how my completed credits can be transferred.

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on the necessary steps for making this change official. Please let me know if there is any paperwork I need to complete or deadlines I should be aware of.

Thank you for your time and support.

Sincerely,

Emily
