Dear Mr.John,

I am writing to ask if I can pay the rent late because I am currently facing some financial issues. I am sorry to let you know that but I tried my best to pay you on time but, I failed to do so.

The reason behind this request is a medical emergency back home, which could not be delayed or neglected. Therefore, I have to send money back home this month. The amount required for the treatment was huge and unexpected, so I had to transfer rent money to fulfill the urgency.

As you know, I have been paying my rent on time since the day I rented your apartment. I wanted to assure you that your payment would be transferred by the end of next week. I already requested some amount from my friend and he agreed to pay at the end of next week only.

I am sorry for the inconvenience it may cause you but I assure you that this will not happen in the future. On top of that, I will request my bank to arrange an auto deposit to your rent at the end of every month.
