Dear Mr. Jones,

I am writing to ask you for your assistance regarding the new assignment in the economic class.

Due to some sudden developments in my family, I would like to request an extension for the task assigned by you. As you know, we have a 4000 word assignment, which is due at the middle of next month and we are currently working on it from last couple of weeks to make it really impressive and effective. Although i have already made excellent attempt in my writing and research, I just find out that my family needs to travel to london for a wedding, and i will be away from college for over 3 weeks.

While i understand that this situation is more than ideal, I hope that my steller academic record will be enough to prove my commitment and work ethics. I scored more than 85% in every class activities and if you grant my request, i can assure you that i will accomplish the work before the deadline without compromising the quality of work.
