Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing in regards to the new sports facilities in my local area. While it is beneficial to the youth, it seems as though that the older people in our community is not being included in the planning process prior to the facilities getting built.
I am quite disappointed that there are only one court for people who plays badminton, pickleball, or tennis, and another for those who play basketball. This limits the opportunity to gather people across our community and build a close-knit relationship. To add, there has not been any ramps available for our brothers and sisters who are disabled.
With that, having a limit of two courts across multiple sports limits the number of people who could play at the same time. This encourages conflict amongst them instead of camaraderie as it slowly fuels up an unspoken hierarchy. Moreover, people with special needs are not accomodated and explicitly unadvocated for. This shows how they are being marginalised and not included just because of their disability.
To navigate these across, I do suggest that disabled ramps and additional courts be available for the public. This would create a community where sportsmanship and accessibility is heavily valued. For a more holistic approach, a survey could mean a lot to many in a way that their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions may also be heard.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Skye
