Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to let you know that I will not be able to move into the new apartment due to some unforeseen circumstances.

I had made a house lease agreement with you earlier this week while we met. Additionally, as per the discussion that we had, since your previous tenants would only vacate by the end of the month I was informed that I could move in on the 1st of next month.

However, back at home, my father met with an accident, and is currently hospitalized. Being an only child, I must travel to my place at the earliest to take care of him and the rest of the things at home. This makes it impossible for me to move in on the agreed date.

Nevertheless, I expect to be back in the city no later than the 15th of June. I would like to move in then, if it is ok from your end. Considering the fact that it would be a loss for you to lose out a month’s rent, I am willing to pay the rent for the entire month as well.

Kindly let me know your thoughts on this.
