Dear Sir or Madam,

I’m writing to you regarding an advertising I found on the mailing list “Liverpool Classics” this morning. It said that you have an open position for a Professor of Classics for the next year night classes.

I would like to apply to your community college for the teaching of Ancient Greek Civilization. I finished my PHD last year at Harvard University and I taught there for an entire year under the guidance of Professor Sommerstein.

Could you provide me with more details about the kind of teaching you need? I would need to know how many lectures I would have to give in a week, how many students I would have in a class, and what kind of study background would they have.

I think I would be a suitable teacher because I just finished my studies, and I’m still into the research. At the same I think students will appreciate a young approach to themes that could seem distant and uninteresting as Classical Culture.
