Dear Dayo,

I hope you are well. Thank you for lending me your book, however it is rather unfortunate that the book got damaged.

My room got flooded by the heavy rain over the weekend. Unfortunate, the book was on the floor where I placed it and it got soaked. I understand how well you cherish your books and I am very sorry this happened.

I have tried sun drying the book alongside my other belongings that got affected, I am optimistic this would fix the problem, but if not, I can get you a new copy.

Once again, I am very sorry for this and I hope this wouldn’t affect you lending me your book some other time.

Thank you for your understanding, looking forward to hearing back from you.
