I hope you are doing well. I am writing to sincerely apologize for damaging the book I borrowed from you. I feel terrible about it and want to make things right.

The damage happened accidentally while I was reading at home. I had a cup of tea nearby, and unfortunately, it spilled onto the book. I immediately tried to dry it carefully, but some pages were still stained and slightly warped. I understand that this book was valuable to you, and I feel very sorry for my carelessness.

To compensate for the damage, I would be happy to either replace the book with a new copy or refund the amount you originally paid for it, whichever you prefer. I want to ensure that you are not at a loss because of my mistake.

Once again, I apologize for the accident and hope you can forgive me. I will be more careful in the future when borrowing books from you.
