Dear Tim,
I am writing regarding the book you lent me a while back, because it got damaged.
I want to start by saying I’m sorry for damaging your book. I know it was not only expensive, but also your favourite.
About 2 days ago, while I was having my morning coffee, I accidentally spilled some on it. I thought I could quickly and easily clean it up with some wet wipes, but this in fact just made it worse because all this did was to increase the smear of the coffee on it, rendering more pages illegible. I further attempted to soak a napkin in water to try and rub it off, but this led to a further tear in the pages affected.
I can’t believe I let this happen, as I pride myself in being carefull. I know no amount of sorries can fix this book, so be rest assured that I have all intentions of replacing the book. I plan on making an order for it online today, and you should recieve it in your mail in about a week’s time
All the best.
Temitope
