The maps illustrate how the ground floor of a museum changed from 1990 to 2010.

Overall, the most significant alteration is the location of the statue and the archaeology gallery is converted by some amenities. It is also clear that the natural history room, museum office, local history room and stairs remained the same after 20 years.

In detail, the gift shop in the top left-hand corner had been expanded with the addition of a cafe in 2010. The statue which used to be placed next to the gift shop was moved to the middle of the floor. In the top right-hand corner the archaeology had been replaced by a children’s interactive zone and poster display area. In addition, the local history room remained unchanged.

In 1990, the reception was in front of the museum office in the bottom left-hand corner. By 2010, the entrance had doubled in size and the reception had been moved nearer to the entrance while the museum office and the natural history room remained the same. Furthermore, in 2010 the lift had been added between the natural history room and the shop.
