In 2009, over 1.5 million attendances were registered for activities such as sports, theme parks or cinemas. however, whereas in sports there are many different activities, it registered less attendances than for cinema. for instance, in 2009, over 1 million people went to the cinema, compared to under 150 000 attendances for sports. why do certain activities get different amounts of attendance?

firstly, pricing has an impact on the possibility of attending events. for sports, when bying individual tickets, prices can range from 24$ to 75$ a ticket. In family plans, despite there being a slight difference in the prices for bundles, tickets for a family of four range from 80$ to almost 300$. some families simply do not have the extra money saved up to spend on these tickets.

secondly, activities such as football games, basketball games or cricket games are not always available on demand: they are in select cities at select times. This is a factor explaining why in 2009 only approximately 150 000 people attended a sports game. Furthermore, cinemas are a staple: present in many towns and cities, they are more accessible to the general public by their pricing and many locations. Moreover, cinemas constantly have movies in session for all hours of the day, explaining why in 2009, over 1 million cinema entries were recorded
