Overall, it can be clearly seen that, over the period of seven years, the numbers for openings and closures fluctuated throughout the period, while there was a sudden decline for shop closures in the middle of the year.

To start with, the continuous line shows how many shops were closed during mentioned period. It can be understood that, a total of 65,000 shops were closed during the year 2011, and this number dropped to 60,000 by the year 2012. After 2012, this number increased to 70,000 and again fell dramatically to 50,000 by the year 2015. Finally, the figure for shop closures remained stable at around 50,000 between the years 2016 to 2018.

On the other hand, The dashed line provides view on the number of shops that were closed, by looking at at trend, it can be said that, the number of shops that opened in one country showed some rapid changes throughout the period. Starting with below 90,000, which was the highest opening number, this amount fell to 40,000 by the year 2012. After 2012, the figures for shop openings rose to 60,000 by the year 2014. Additionally, in the year 2015, around 40,000 shops were opened, and this number remained stable for the next two years.
